The journey has begun!
The lumber schooner C.A. Thayer arrived at Mare Island today! The ship has spent the last few months in drydock at Bay Ship and Yacht in Alameda undergoing routine maintenance and repair. This morning, Marine Express arrived to tow the historical ship 27 miles across the San Francisco Bay to the Mare Island Naval Shipyard. C.A. Thayer will be the first of the park’s fleet of ships to arrive at Mare Island.
